Current Events Week 2 Goverment/Politics

http://ethicist.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/11/03/must-you-vote/

This article takes a very different approach to voting, and our right to vote. What do you think about it? Should Americans vote if they are not properly educated on specific issues? What are some of the consequences of voting without much knowledge? Are there any benifets? Lastly he says that things like MTV's Rock the Vote are idiotic....do you agree? Why or why not?

  1. I don't think that people with no knowledge or little knowledge on certian issues should be able to vote. I think that if they would they are makeing a huge mistake due to voting for the wrong person. Some people do great when voted for. Others do absolutly nothing. If you know nothing about politics and government then dont bother to vote.

  2. I think that if you pay attention to the campaigns you should be allowed to vote to better our country. The people that have no knowledge of the people running for presidency should not vote. Why would you vote for some one you know nothing about? They could run every thing right in to the ground. If every body started voting with out any knowledge then every thing would fall apart and turn into god knows what.
The benefits of us being knowledge would be to better the U.S.A and make ends meet. Every body wants a president to care for the needs of every individual. As for the MTV's Rock The Vote publicity like that should not be used for things as serious as who is running the nation.

  3. I think we should not vote if you dont know anything about it. If you do then you could make a choice you didnt want to #1 and #2 why would you want to vote if you have not followed anything that had been going on? Also it could be bad if no one knew anything and they all went and voted, our country could go down from that, but thats my opinion. i dont really think there are any benifits. no i dont really agree with that because MTV has some good stuff on there, and it can help you make your choice with voting.
