2/16/10 - The 2005 Political Typology Test Assignment

The Political Typology is a longstanding effort by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press to sort voters into groups based on their values, political beliefs and party affiliation.

The current report is based on a two-part survey of 2,000 Americans interviewed in December 2004, most of whom were recontacted to follow up on current political issues in March 2005. This is the fourth Political Typology study, following previous studies in 1987, 1994 and 1999.

Unfortunately, this 2005 version is the most up to date survey currently available.  It is due for a 2010 update, but as of now the new survey is not available on the web so we will take the 2005 version.

Click on this link to get to the site.  Then click on the "Where do you fit?" link to take the quiz.

Then answer the questions on the last page of the Political Ideology packet.  You will turn that in for a grade.

In the comments section, tell what political label the quiz assigned to you and comment on the quiz itself.

  1. I was assigned to the unaffected group. I thought the test was very inaccurate because the questions were too broad to strongly agree or disagree. I felt towards some of the questions that, yeah i do agree, but it should be a little .... etc. so i disagree with the label that was givin to me because of the broadness of the test.

  2. I was labeled in the category of "Upbeats". & i do believe that it is right but not 100 percent right . Because i do have some of the same beliefs but not all of them. I believe that i am more on the republican side & that is what the Upbeats are.

  4. The lable given to me was conservative democrate. I do not believe that my lable is right for me. For instance i don't believe that the gov't should have to help the needy people, they can help themselves. I also believe that we shouldn't have to fight for our country if we don't have to. So I don't feel that this label is right for me.

I'm not saying that this quiz is something that you shouldn't take. But nothing online is 100% right. For example my label. But in my class most people agreed with their label. So maybe it was just a little off. But overall it was an okay quiz.
