Gauging Your Distraction:
An Online Texting & Driving Game
Recent studies show that drivers overestimate their ability to multitask behind the wheel. Play this online game to measure how your reaction time is affected by external distractions.
Do you think there should be a law in Pennsylvania banning texting and/or talking on a cell phone while driving? Why or why not?

  1. i think it should and should not be mad a law. i think it should because it is the main reason for most of the wrecks by teenagers today. but on the same side i think it should not because u can always text while you are at stop sign or at a red light. it is also way easier totalk on the phone way more then it is to text. you could always have a bluetooth. and just have to push a button to awnser your phone and i would not be that hard. but texting is a differant story because u have to pay attention to what you are texting more then you do on the road.

  2. no i dont think there should be a law where txting is allowed. People who txt while drving is putting more than their live on the line. talking on the phone is a little better i guess but i mean it is still scary for people to be doing that.

i dont think i will be txting and driving if i cant even beat this game while i am doing this then why in the world would i even try to do it in real life. This game would teach a lot of people a lesson i would think. No one didnt even see the gray lady because they were to busy txting and thats scary, what if that was a real person.

  3. I think that there should be a law against texting while driving because there has been so many instances where inicent people have been killed when people are texting. I also think talking on the phone while driving is also bad but I don't think that it can be as dangerous as texting. I think that if you pull off of the road to text or drive it would be better than driving and texting or talking on the phone on the road

  4. The first time i played i didnt read the instructions... So I had no idea what i was doing. The second time, it was really really hard! I mean... geez! Didnt even see the gray lady. Well, anyway, I think it should be a law banning texting, not talking though. Cause... With those bluetooth things it'd work pretty well still.

You're way too distracted by the text you got! It'd be easier just to call someone! So calling is fine, texting, NO, too many crashes...

  5. well to be honest. i text and drive all the time, and its nothing at all like that game. even if there was a law against texting and talking on cellphones, teens, and even adults will not stop.

  6. I think that the game is nothing like texting while driving in real life. The game appears to be way different. I have two point of views on texting while driving.

My first thought is that i do not think texting while driving should be banned. Most people can text while driving and not even come close to endangering any living thing. Just because you ban it does not mean people will listen. Also cell phones are used for contact so what if an emergency happens ?

Second is if it is raising death rates by alot then go ahead and try to ban it. I think it mainly causes teens to wreck. Because most adults dont text while driving. It all depends on the person i guess. But i think that trying to ban texting wile driving will be a hard thing to pass.

  7. i think texting and driving should be illegal just for the fact that teens love to text and they will do it whenever they can even behind the wheel of a car and that will make at least 95% of teen car crashes is because they were texting. but i dont think talking on the phone should be illegal only if you have a headset or earphones to talk into but if you have to put it up to your ear and bend your head sideways to hold it in place i think that should be illegal.

  9. Yes i think there should be a law made because so many people are gettin hurt in car accidents now due to texting. I think it would save many lives.

  10. I think there should be a law in Pennsylvania that bans texting because when you're texting and driving at the same time you are putting yourself at a greater risk of crashing.

  11. Yes, I would think making a law that bans texting while driving in Pa would be a good idea. I mean you have to think about everyone who has crashed or crashed into another person while texting in the car. Im pretty sure if there would be such a law the number of deaths and injuries from car crashes would definitely decrease.

  12. I think that their are different pionts of veiws from the situation. the peopple that do text and drive at the same time and who don't. this game on the website dose not give you the real life exsprents of going though all of the dangouse things it can put you though. All thought it is very dangouse you should not have your phone on while driving or put it on silnce so that it dose not tempt you to answer it. so in my opion I think that it is up to the person that is driving to answer their phone or not.

  13. I don't think that they should banned texting while drving but I believe that they should watch out for people texting while driving more often. After playing that game I have come to realize that texing while driving is way more dangerous than it seems. But I don't believe that they they United States could actually banned texting while driving. But maybe they could who knows.

It is a very dangerous thing to do. I myself have almost been in many accendints do to my sister texting while she is driving. But I think that if they were to make a law to banned texting in the state of Pennsylvania I myself don't think that people would follow it becauce everyone these days live off of there cell phones. I think that if they are going to use there phones while in a vehicle they should pull over.

  14. Yes I do. I thought talking on your cell phone while driving was already illegal??? If it is its not enforced. But yes i do think there should be a law against it because there is alot of accidents caused by it every year. I think those no hand or what. ever devices should be aloud though

  15. I definitely think that this should be in Pennsylvania but just for the texting not the talking. For after taking this test three times I am finally the average. So I do believe that texting will be a total hazard for everyone that is on the road. While on the other hand I still think that talking and driving is not hazardous. For you have to keep on looking at the key pad on the phone to text but you only have to look at the phone maybe twice to answer a call. Of course I think therein lays the problem I think in making this law work. For it is not that everything you do with a cell is hazardous. Just some of the things that make you look at the phone the whole time like texting or surfing the web.

  16. There should be a law that prohibits people from texting while driving because many people do not pay attention to the road while texting and it ends in bad results it's very dangerous and there must be a law against this

  17. i dont think talking on the phone while driving should be banned. your eyes can still be on the road while your talking on the phone. i dont think texting should be banned either because if you do it and you wreck its your own fault. and some people can text and still keep their eyes on the road.

  18. In my opinon I honestly do not think cell phones should be ban while driving. Yes it is wrong to be texting while driving your putting yourself in danger and others that are driving around you. Also they make bluetooths now that you can just put over your ear and talk, it help you to pay attention better. Your not worried about messing around on your phone or having it resting on your shoulder trying to talk. The bluetooth was a good idea but therefore you should not text while driving.

  19. Yes, I believe there should be a law in Pennsylvania banning texting while driving because it causes major distraction and confusion. Plus, if you're texting while driving, you could get into an accident because you weren't paying attention.

  20. Yes tere should be a law that restricts drivers from alking/texting on a phone wile the car is in drive. Too money people (a large majority being young adults) are dying and being critically injured due to cell phones and driving.
