Does Tiger Woods Have a Right to Privacy?

In his statement, he said:

No matter how intense curiosity about public figures can be, there is an important and deep principle at stake which is the right to some simple, human measure of privacy. I realize there are some who don’t share my view on that. But for me, the virtue of privacy is one that must be protected in matters that are intimate and within one’s own family. Personal sins should not require press releases and problems within a family shouldn’t have to mean public confessions.

But in the age of the Internet, when the media is not just traditional mainstream press or even the tabloids, but bloggers and twitterers, is a claim of privacy even possible? And is there a difference between a public figure and a well-known figure when it comes to privacy?

  1. no. privacy is not possible with well known figures. which is in a way bull. its none of OUR business whether tiger woods slept with other women and who those women are. there are millions of affairs going on around the world that arent on the news. if you wanna see affairs. watch jerry springer.

Being a well known figure is hard to stay out of the media so there is no way to get the media to give you privacy. Tiger Woods is a well known person so obviously the media is not going to give him privacy expecially since before this happen his image was perfect. I think he deserves his privacy because even know he is a celebrity he still is a normal human being and doesnt want everyone in his business.

  4. I dont think it is possible for bloggers and twitters to give the famous peopls privacy. Thst is their job to get facts about these people.
There is a difference between a public figure and a well known figure because people are more interested in well known figures because maybe some people look up to them.

  5. i dont think its possible for him to get privacy, not now everyone knows whats going on and what he did. and people are going to make it seem bigger that what it really is, but hes just going to have to get over it b/c people are going to be talking and writing stories, it's their job. but he had no right to do what he did, he has a family and he said his vowes to his wife, and now his family is going to have to suffer.

  7. I think that right now the media and the rest of amricia needs to give tiger some privicy. Him and his wife Elin needs to work this out by themselves. And everyone needs to relise that everyone makes mistakes and everyone deservise a second chance.

  8. i think that celebrity should get privacy because they are just normal people who just get paid alot of money to do things they love. if every person did that then we would all be celeberty's. they are just normal people who deserve there privacy just like we do. so yes i do think they deserve there privacy just like we do.

  9. Anymore it is hard to have personal privacy, and yes there is a difference in privacy btween a public figure and a well-known figure. Thje difference is the more well known you are the less privacy you get.

  10. No, it seems like there is no privacy for celebrities these days. It's not fair to them that they get called names, when there are other men and women in the world that do that everyday.

  11. As far as the media an age go, yes it is possible to have privacy. You have to keep to yourself. No one can find out or tell anyone if they don't know. A public figure is different from a regular person in that they are more looked upon to set an example, so wen they do something wrong everyone hears about it. I don't think its quite fair, but as a celebrity or well known figure, you need to behave yourself, or drop the fame.
